Finding the Right Community
At AFAR, research is central to our mission. But we also know the importance of connection.
Our groups create opportunities for people with shared experiences to build relationships, learn from one another, and continue their recovery and healing in communities that understand the challenges they face.

The Summit Group serves individuals whose visibility, profession, or public profile can make traditional recovery spaces difficult or unsafe. Summit has now moved to a fully virtual format, making participation possible without the travel previously required while preserving the small, confidential community at the heart of the program.
The Healers Recovery Group provides an ongoing virtual recovery community for professionals in the healing fields. Members participate in quarterly virtual retreats and monthly check-ins throughout the year.
The Restoration Circle provides a community for betrayed partners who work in healing, with quarterly virtual retreats and monthly check-ins.
Each group serves a different community, but they share something important: the understanding that people benefit from having a place where they do not have to explain their experience before they can begin talking about it.
All three groups are currently welcoming inquiries from prospective members.
If one of these communities sounds like it may be right for you—or for someone you work with—we invite you to reach out to AFAR to learn more.
With gratitude, The American Foundation for Addiction Research
